Malcolm Harding
Many microscopic images have an uncanny similarity to their macroscopic counterparts; often these images look more like abstract art than science.
These paintings draw inspiration from imperceptible biological forms found in nature, suggesting elements that exist outside of human comprehension - things we can only see through microscopes and telescopes.
The organisms in the paintings present as marks, daubs and drips in colours not usually associated with scientific imaging - a painterly allusion to things invisible to the human eye.
